Turmeric
$1.70/oz
Turmeric was called ‘Indian saffron’ because of its deep colour. It has a peppery, warm and bitter flavour, and is best known as one of the ingredients used to make curry. More recently turmeric is seen as a superfood and has become popular served as a latte in cafes.
How to Use:
Some people like to add a little extra of this spice when preparing curries. It is also delicious on healthy steamed cauliflower or green beans and onions. It is a great spice to complement lentils. You can add turmeric to egg salad to give it an even bolder yellow colour. Turmeric is also very useful when added to juices and smoothies.
